How and when did you join the band?
I answered an internet ad titled, “Band seeking Man.” I auditioned a few days later and I guess I was the “man”. The band took a vote and I was voted in, three-to-1, on December 10, 2007. (I think I know who cast the dissenting vote.)

Who are your musical influences?
Women! Next question...

What was your most memorable RSR gig?
My first gig with the band, 12/14/08. Although I was already voted in, I knew it was still an audition. I passed!

What was your worst performance experience?
My worst 'rock' performance occurred when I started “Never Been to Spain” by Three Dog Night on the wrong note and I couldn’t recover. I panicked, but the band played on like pros and finished the song without me. My worst 'Tejano' experience was playing a wedding with 300 guests in a hall without air-conditioning while sporting a tuxedo. Not just any tuxedo, but the kind with you wear with ruffled shirts. It made for a very long night! My worst 'classical music' experience was during Handel’s Messiah when I completely--and I mean completely--missed the 'solo' trumpet fanfare at the end. The whole 60-member orchestra was furious with me! I got paid anyway! My worst 'Jazz' experience was during a concert when I missed an important intro to a chart. The director glared at me like my pissed-off father would look at me when I was a kid and then mouthed 'f* you!' right in the middle of the song, and in plain view of the rest of the band. Needless to say, I never screwed up after that humiliation!

What songs do you most enjoy playing?
'Barbacoa Blues', 'China Grove', anything from ZZ Top.

What is your current instrumental setup?
Washburn Electric, Fender Telecaster, Fender Blues Deluxe amp, Hohner Harmonicas, and a trumpet that I bought at an estate sale.

What would you like to be when you grow up?
Captain of the Galaxy-class starship U.S.S. Enterprise-D.

Other hobbies?
Cooking. Tex-Mex, Italian. Yes, I have my own molcajete.

Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Favorite Movie?
Pulp Fiction

Favorite Book?
Roots

Favorite Food?
Carne Guisada. I could eat it everyday and I can make some of the best in town.

Favorite Drink?
My personally selected blend of freshly ground coffee. Never, ever drink or buy pre-ground coffee!

The green hue of my wife’s beautiful eyes.

Pet Peeves?
People who want me to touch their pets. No pun intended.

Something most people might not know about me:
I wanted to be a symphony orchestra conductor when I was growing up.

Favorite Quotes:
“Find out what it is in life that you don’t do well, and don’t do that!
Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all!

Favorite Toasts:
“The hall is rented, the band is engaged, now it’s time to see if you dance.”
“Amigos en el bien y el mal, ni los años nos podran pesar.”
